Perkins v. Dr. S

In the summer of 2024, Priscilla DeGois and Virgil Pryor achieved a unanimous jury verdict in favor of a hospitalist in an elder abuse and wrongful death action. After eight weeks of trial, including testimony from experts in hospital medicine, gastroenterology, critical care, and interventional radiology, the jury returned a 12-0 defense verdict in favor of the hospitalist. The jury found that the hospitalist was thorough, deliberate, and cautious in his treatment of the decedent and that, despite appropriate care, she passed away due to complications from her multiple comorbidities.
